When they saw the star, they were overwhelmed with joy.

The people who live in darkness

have seen a great light,

and for those living in the land of the shadow of death,

a light has dawned.[fn]

Jesus called them over and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in high positions act as tyrants over them.

“Teacher, which command in the law is the greatest? ”

“This is the greatest and most important[fn] command.

A large herd of pigs was there, feeding on the hillside.

Immediately the girl got up and began to walk. (She was twelve years old.) At this they were utterly astounded.

Jesus called them over and said to them, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in high positions act as tyrants over them.

Jesus said to him, “Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone will be left upon another ​— ​all will be thrown down.”

He will show you a large room upstairs, furnished and ready. Make the preparations for us there.”

And at three Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lemá sabachtháni? ” which is translated, “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? ”

Then all the people of the Gerasene region[fn] asked him to leave them, because they were gripped by great fear. So getting into the boat, he returned.
