1. BLB Note: The definition for Martha provided by Dr. Larry Pierce is not found in Dr. Pierce's source materials. Further, the next Strong's entry (G3137) in Thayer's defines the name "Mariam, Maria" as 'obstinacy,' 'rebelliousness'. Thus, the definition of Martha provided in the Outline of Biblical Usage may be stated in error. Both Thayer's and Strong's state that Martha means "mistress".
