“I have revealed your name to the people you gave me from the world. They were yours, you gave them to me, and they have kept your word.
“I pray[fn] for them. I am not praying for the world but for those you have given me, because they are yours.
“I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect[fn] them by your name that you have given me, so that they may be one as we are one.
“Now I am coming to you, and I speak these things in the world so that they may have my joy completed in them.
“I have given them your word. The world hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

“You are a king then? ” Pilate asked.
“You say that I’m a king,” Jesus replied. “I was born for this, and I have come into the world for this: to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.”
And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which, if every one of them were written down, I suppose not even the world itself could contain the books[fn] that would be written.

First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you because the news of your faith[fn] is being reported in all the world.
For his invisible attributes, that is, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen since the creation of the world, being understood through what he has made. As a result, people are without excuse.

Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, in this way death spread to all people, because all sinned.[fn]

Where is the one who is wise? Where is the teacher of the law?[fn] Where is the debater of this age? Hasn’t God made the world’s wisdom foolish?
For since, in God’s wisdom, the world did not know God through wisdom, God was pleased to save those who believe through the foolishness of what is preached.
Instead, God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong.
God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world — what is viewed as nothing — to bring to nothing what is viewed as something,
Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who comes from God, so that we may understand what has been freely given to us by God.

whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or things present or things to come — everything is yours,
For I think God has displayed us, the apostles, in last place, like men condemned to die: We have become a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to people.
