When Jesus was baptized, he went up immediately from the water. The heavens suddenly opened for him,[fn] and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming down on him.
“The rain fell, the rivers rose, and the winds blew and pounded that house. Yet it didn’t collapse, because its foundation was on the rock.
“The rain fell, the rivers rose, the winds blew and pounded that house, and it collapsed. It collapsed with a great crash.”
He said, “Come.”
And climbing out of the boat, Peter started walking on the water and came toward Jesus.
As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, “Don’t tell anyone about the vision until the Son of Man is raised[fn] from the dead.”
and saying, “You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross! ”
“He saved others, but he cannot save himself! He is the King of Israel! Let him[fn] come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him.

“I tell you, this one went down to his house justified rather than the other, because everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”
When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down because today it is necessary for me to stay at your house.”
Being in anguish, he prayed more fervently, and his sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground.[fn]
And John testified, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and he rested on him.
“I didn’t know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The one you see the Spirit descending and resting on — he is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’
Then he said, “Truly I tell you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”
After this, he went down to Capernaum, together with his mother, his brothers, and his disciples, and they stayed there only a few days.
“No one has ascended into heaven except the one who descended from heaven — the Son of Man.[fn]
When this man heard that Jesus had come from Judea into Galilee, he went to him and pleaded with him to come down and heal his son, since he was about to die.
“Sir,” the disabled man answered, “I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I’m coming, someone goes down ahead of me.”
“For the bread of God is the one who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”
