V. tares], a kind of darnel, bastard wheat [but see references below], resembling wheat except that the grains are black: Matthew 13:25-27, 29f, 38, 38, 40. (Geoponica [for references see American edition, p. 3177 note]). Cf. Winers RWB under the word Lolch; Furrer in Schenkel B. L. 4:57; [, and Tristram, National History of the Bible, under the word Tares].
Strong's Number G2215 matches the Greek ζιζάνιον (zizanion),
which occurs 8 times in 8 verses
in the MGNT Greek.
“But while people were sleeping, his enemy came, sowed weeds among the wheat, and left.
“The landowner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Master, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Then where did the weeds come from? ’
