“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt should lose its taste, how can it be made salty?[fn] It’s no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.

“ ‘Master,’ the servant said, ‘what you ordered has been done, and there’s still room.’

“If not, while the other is still far off, he sends a delegation and asks for terms of peace.

While he was still speaking, suddenly a mob came, and one of the Twelve named Judas was leading them. He came near Jesus to kiss him,

But Peter said, “Man, I don’t know what you’re talking about! ” Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.

“Why do we need any more testimony,” they said, “since we’ve heard it ourselves from his mouth? ”
