This saying is trustworthy: “If anyone aspires to be an overseer,[fn] he desires a noble work.”
Now we desire each of you to demonstrate the same diligence for the full assurance of your hope until the end,
You desire and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and wage war.[fn] You do not have because you do not ask.
It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you. These things have now been announced to you through those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven — angels long to catch a glimpse of these things.
