After hearing the king, they went on their way. And there it was ​— ​the star they had seen at its rising. It led them until it came and stopped above the place where the child was.

“You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden.

They brought the donkey and the colt; then they laid their clothes on them, and he sat on them.

“Also, ‘Whoever takes an oath by the altar, it means nothing; but whoever takes an oath by the gift that is on it is bound by his oath.’

“Therefore, the one who takes an oath by the altar takes an oath by it and by everything on it.

“And the one who takes an oath by heaven takes an oath by God’s throne and by him who sits on it.

Above his head they put up the charge against him in writing: This Is Jesus, the King of the Jews.

There was a violent earthquake, because an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and approached the tomb. He rolled back the stone and was sitting on it.

“For this perfume might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii[fn] and given to the poor.” And they began to scold her.

So he stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up immediately and began to serve them.

“Look, I have given you the authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy; nothing at all will harm you.

“Woe to you![fn] You are like unmarked graves; the people who walk over them don’t know it.”

“ ‘Well done, good[fn] servant! ’ he told him. ‘Because you have been faithful in a very small matter, have authority over ten towns.’

“So he said to him, ‘You will be over five towns.’

The one who comes from above is above all. The one who is from the earth is earthly and speaks in earthly terms.[fn] The one who comes from heaven is above all.

Then he appeared to over five hundred brothers and sisters at one time; most of them are still alive, but some have fallen asleep.

And I looked, and there was a pale green[fn] horse. Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following after him. They were[fn] given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill by the sword, by famine, by plague, and by the wild animals of the earth.

He threw him into the abyss, closed it, and put a seal on it so that he would no longer deceive the nations until the thousand years were completed. After that, he must be released for a short time.
