So from there the LORD scattered them throughout the earth, and they stopped building the city.
From there he moved on to the hill country east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. He built an altar to the LORD there, and he called on the name of the LORD.
The men got up from there and looked out over Sodom, and Abraham was walking with them to see them off.

When they came to Eshcol Valley, they cut down a branch with a single cluster of grapes, which was carried on a pole by two men. They also took some pomegranates and figs.
That place was called Eshcol[fn] Valley because of the cluster of grapes the Israelites cut there.
They set out from there and camped on the other side of the Arnon River, in the wilderness that extends from the Amorite border, because the Arnon was the Moabite border between Moab and the Amorites.
From there they went to Beer,[fn] the well the LORD told Moses about, “Gather the people so I may give them water.”
In the morning, Balak took Balaam and brought him to Bamoth-baal.[fn] From there he saw the outskirts of the people’s camp.
