According to the grace given to us, we have different gifts: If prophecy, use it according to the proportion of one’s[fn] faith;

whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or things present or things to come ​— ​everything is yours,

For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth ​— ​as there are many “gods” and many “lords” ​— ​

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.

For we were all baptized by[fn] one Spirit into one body ​— ​whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free ​— ​and we were all given one Spirit to drink.

So if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.

Love never ends. But as for prophecies, they will come to an end; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will come to an end.

Even lifeless instruments that produce sounds ​— ​whether flute or harp ​— ​if they don’t make a distinction in the notes, how will what is played on the flute or harp be recognized?

If anyone speaks in a tongue, there are to be only two, or at the most three, each in turn, and let someone interpret.

Whether, then, it is I or they, so we proclaim and so you have believed.

If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation. If we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings that we suffer.

My eager expectation and hope is that I will not be ashamed about anything, but that now as always, with all courage, Christ will be highly honored in my body, whether by life or by death.

Just one thing: As citizens of heaven, live your life worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or am absent, I will hear about you that you are standing firm in one spirit, in one accord,[fn] contending together for the faith of the gospel,

For everything was created by him,

in heaven and on earth,

the visible and the invisible,

whether thrones or dominions

or rulers or authorities —

all things have been created through him and for him.

and through him to reconcile

everything to himself,

whether things on earth or things in heaven,

by making peace

through his blood, shed on the cross.[fn]

who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.

So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold to the traditions you were taught, whether by what we said or what we wrote.

Submit to every human authority because of the Lord, whether to the emperor[fn] as the supreme authority
