This man came to him at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God, for no one could perform these signs you do unless God were with him.”
Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, unless someone is born again,[fn] he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
Jesus answered, “Truly I tell you, unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
“If I have told you about earthly things and you don’t believe, how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things?
John responded, “No one can receive anything unless it has been given to him from heaven.
Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, the Son is not able to do anything on his own, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father[fn] does, the Son likewise does these things.
“I have come in my Father’s name, and yet you don’t accept me. If someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him.
“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws[fn] him, and I will raise him up on the last day.
“I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread he will live forever. The bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”
So Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life in yourselves.
He said, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted to him by the Father.”
“If anyone wants to do his will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own.
On the last and most important day of the festival, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me[fn] and drink.
“Our law doesn’t judge a man before it hears from him and knows what he’s doing, does it? ”
“And if I do judge, my judgment is true, because it is not I alone who judge, but I and the Father who sent me.
“Therefore I told you that you will die in your sins. For if you do not believe that I am he, you will die in your sins.”
Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you continue in my word,[fn] you really are my disciples.
Then the Jews said, “Now we know you have a demon. Abraham died and so did the prophets. You say, ‘If anyone keeps my word, he will never taste death.’
“If I glorify myself,” Jesus answered, “my glory is nothing. My Father — about whom you say, ‘He is our God’ — he is the one who glorifies me.
“You do not know him, but I know him. If I were to say I don’t know him, I would be a liar like you. But I do know him, and I keep his word.
His parents said these things because they were afraid of the Jews, since the Jews had already agreed that if anyone confessed him as the Messiah, he would be banned from the synagogue.
“We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners, but if anyone is God-fearing and does his will, he listens to him.
“I am the gate. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will come in and go out and find pasture.
“Aren’t there twelve hours in a day? ” Jesus answered. “If anyone walks during the day, he doesn’t stumble, because he sees the light of this world.
“But if anyone walks during the night, he does stumble, because the light is not in him.”
Jesus said to her, “Didn’t I tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God? ”
“If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.”
The chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that if anyone knew where he was, he should report it so that they could arrest him.
“Truly I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains by itself. But if it dies, it produces much fruit.
“If anyone serves me, he must follow me. Where I am, there my servant also will be. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.
“If anyone hears my words and doesn’t keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.
“You will never wash my feet,” Peter said.
Jesus replied, “If I don’t wash you, you have no part with me.”
“Truly I tell you, whoever receives anyone I send receives me, and the one who receives me receives him who sent me.”
“If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, so that where I am you may be also.
Jesus answered, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
“Remain in me, and I in you. Just as a branch is unable to produce fruit by itself unless it remains on the vine, neither can you unless you remain in me.
“If anyone does not remain in me, he is thrown aside like a branch and he withers. They gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want and it will be done for you.
“If you keep my commands you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.
