TDNT Reference: 2:261,182
Strong's Number G1397 matches the Greek δουλεία (douleia),
which occurs 5 times in 5 verses
in the TR Greek.
For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear. Instead, you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry out, “Abba,[fn] Father! ”
that the creation itself will also be set free from the bondage to decay into the glorious freedom of God’s children.
These things are being taken figuratively, for the women represent two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai and bears children into slavery — this is Hagar.
For freedom, Christ set us free. Stand firm, then, and don’t submit again to a yoke of slavery.
