“But woe to you Pharisees! You give a tenth[fn] of mint, rue, and every kind of herb, and you bypass[fn] justice and love for God.[fn] These things you should have done without neglecting the others.

“For the Holy Spirit will teach you at that very hour what must be said.”

But the leader of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, responded by telling the crowd, “There are six days when work should be done; therefore come on those days and be healed and not on the Sabbath day.”

“Satan has bound this woman, a daughter of Abraham, for eighteen years ​— ​shouldn’t she be untied from this bondage[fn] on the Sabbath day? ”

“Yet it is necessary that I travel today, tomorrow, and the next day, because it is not possible for a prophet to perish outside of Jerusalem.
