Luke 1:32; ὁ υἱὸς Δ., a name of the Messiah, viz. the descendant of David and heir to his throne (see υἱός, 1 b.); ἡ ῥίζα Δ. the offspring of David, Revelation 5:5; Revelation 22:16; ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ Δ.
