Then God said, “Let the earth produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that crawl, and the wildlife of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so.

The man gave names to all the livestock, to the birds of the sky, and to every wild animal; but for the man[fn] no helper was found corresponding to him.

So the LORD God said to the serpent:

Because you have done this,

you are cursed more than any livestock

and more than any wild animal.

You will move on your belly

and eat dust all the days of your life.

Then the LORD said, “I will wipe mankind, whom I created, off the face of the earth, together with the animals, creatures that crawl, and birds of the sky ​— ​for I regret that I made them.”

“Two of everything ​— ​from the birds according to their kinds, from the livestock according to their kinds, and from the animals that crawl on the ground according to their kinds ​— ​will come to you so that you can keep them alive.

“You are to take with you seven pairs, a male and its female, of all the clean animals, and two of the animals that are not clean, a male and its female,

From the animals that are clean, and from the animals that are not clean, and from the birds and every creature that crawls on the ground,

They entered it with all the wildlife according to their kinds, all livestock according to their kinds, all the creatures that crawl on the earth according to their kinds, every flying creature ​— ​all the birds and every winged creature ​— ​according to their kinds.

Every creature perished ​— ​those that crawl on the earth, birds, livestock, wildlife, and those that swarm on the earth, as well as all mankind.

He wiped out every living thing that was on the face of the earth, from mankind to livestock, to creatures that crawl, to the birds of the sky, and they were wiped off the earth. Only Noah was left, and those that were with him in the ark.

God remembered Noah, as well as all the wildlife and all the livestock that were with him in the ark. God caused a wind to pass over the earth, and the water began to subside.

“Bring out all the living creatures that are with you ​— ​birds, livestock, those that crawl on the earth ​— ​and they will spread over the earth and be fruitful and multiply on the earth.”

Then Noah built an altar to the LORD. He took some of every kind of clean animal and every kind of clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

“and with every living creature that is with you ​— ​birds, livestock, and all wildlife of the earth that are with you ​— ​all the animals of the earth that came out of the ark.

“Won’t their livestock, their possessions, and all their animals become ours? Only let’s agree with them, and they will live with us.”

Esau took his wives, sons, daughters, and all the people of his household, as well as his herds, all his livestock, and all the property he had acquired in Canaan; he went to a land away from his brother Jacob.

Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward heaven and let there be hail throughout the land of Egypt ​— ​on people and animals and every plant of the field in the land of Egypt.”

Throughout the land of Egypt, the hail struck down everything in the field, both people and animals. The hail beat down every plant of the field and shattered every tree in the field.

“and every firstborn male in the land of Egypt will die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne to the firstborn of the servant girl who is at the grindstones, as well as every firstborn of the livestock.

“But against all the Israelites, whether people or animals, not even a dog will snarl,[fn] so that you may know that the LORD makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel.

“I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night and strike every firstborn male in the land of Egypt, both people and animals. I am the LORD; I will execute judgments against all the gods of Egypt.

Now at midnight the LORD struck every firstborn male in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the prisoner who was in the dungeon, and every firstborn of the livestock.

“Consecrate every firstborn male to me, the firstborn from every womb among the Israelites, both man and domestic animal; it is mine.”

“you are to present to the LORD every firstborn male of the womb. All firstborn offspring of the livestock you own that are males will be the LORD’s.

“When Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, the LORD killed every firstborn male in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of humans and the firstborn of livestock. That is why I sacrifice to the LORD all the firstborn of the womb that are males, but I redeem all the firstborn of my sons.’

“No hand may touch him;[fn] instead he will be stoned or shot with arrows and not live, whether animal or human. When the ram’s horn sounds a long blast, they may go up the mountain.”

but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. You must not do any work ​— ​you, your son or daughter, your male or female servant, your livestock, or the resident alien who is within your city gates.

“When a man gives his neighbor a donkey, an ox, a sheep, or any other animal to care for, but it dies, is injured, or is stolen, while no one is watching,

“Whoever has sexual intercourse with an animal must be put to death.

“Speak to the Israelites and tell them: When any of you brings an offering to the LORD from the livestock, you may bring your offering from the herd or the flock.

“Or if someone touches anything unclean ​— ​a carcass of an unclean wild animal, or unclean livestock, or an unclean swarming creature ​— ​without being aware of it, he is unclean and incurs guilt.

“If someone touches anything unclean, whether human uncleanness, an unclean animal, or any unclean, abhorrent[fn] creature, and eats meat from the LORD’s fellowship sacrifice, that person is to be cut off from his people.”

“If anyone eats animal fat from a food offering presented to the LORD, the person who eats it is to be cut off from his people.

“Tell the Israelites: You may eat all these kinds of land animals.

“All animals that have hooves but do not have a divided hoof and do not chew the cud are unclean for you. Whoever touches them becomes unclean.

“If one of the animals that you use for food dies, anyone who touches its carcass will be unclean until evening.

“This is the law concerning animals, birds, all living creatures that move in the water, and all creatures that swarm on the ground,

“You are not to have sexual intercourse with[fn] any animal, defiling yourself with it; a woman is not to present herself to an animal to mate with it; it is a perversion.

“You are to keep my statutes. Do not crossbreed two different kinds of your livestock, sow your fields with two kinds of seed, or put on a garment made of two kinds of material.

“If a man has sexual intercourse with[fn] an animal, he must be put to death; you are also to kill the animal.
