Abraham looked up and saw a ram[fn] caught in the thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram and offered it as a burnt offering in place of his son.
“Make horns for it on its four corners; the horns are to be of one piece.[fn] Overlay it with bronze.
“Take some of the bull’s blood and apply it to the horns of the altar with your finger; then pour out all the rest of the blood at the base of the altar.
“Overlay its top, all around its sides, and its horns with pure gold; make a gold molding all around it.
“Once a year Aaron is to perform the atonement ceremony for the altar. Throughout your generations he is to perform the atonement ceremony for[fn] it once a year, with the blood of the sin offering for atonement on the horns. The altar is especially holy to the LORD.”
He made the altar of incense out of acacia wood. It was square, eighteen inches long and eighteen inches wide; it was thirty-six inches high.[fn] Its horns were of one piece with it.
He overlaid it, its top, all around its sides, and its horns with pure gold. Then he made a gold molding all around it.

Aaron’s sons brought the blood to him, and he dipped his finger in the blood and applied it to the horns of the altar. He poured out the blood at the base of the altar.
“Then he will go out to the altar that is before the LORD and make atonement for it. He is to take some of the bull’s blood and some of the goat’s blood and put it on the horns on all sides of the altar.
“When there is a prolonged blast of the horn and you hear its sound, have all the troops give a mighty shout. Then the city wall will collapse, and the troops will advance, each man straight ahead.”

The LORD said to Samuel, “How long are you going to mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go. I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem because I have selected for myself a king from his sons.”

The LORD is God and has given us light.

to the horns of the altar.
“There I will make a horn grow for David;
I have prepared a lamp[fn] for my anointed one.
He has raised up a horn for his people,
resulting in praise to all his faithful ones,
to the Israelites, the people close to him.

The sin of Judah is inscribed

He has cut off every horn of Israel
in his burning anger
and withdrawn his right hand
in the presence of the enemy.
He has blazed against Jacob like a flaming fire
that consumes everything.
The LORD has done what he planned;
he has accomplished his decree,
which he ordained in days of old.
He has demolished without compassion,
letting the enemy gloat over you
and exalting the horn of your adversaries.
