Timna, a concubine of Esau’s son Eliphaz,

bore Amalek to Eliphaz.

These are the sons of Esau’s wife Adah.

chief Korah,[fn] chief Gatam, and chief Amalek.

These are the chiefs descended from Eliphaz

in the land of Edom.

These are the sons of Adah.

At Rephidim, Amalek[fn] came and fought against Israel.

So Joshua defeated Amalek and his army[fn] with the sword.

He said, “Indeed, my hand is lifted up toward[fn] the LORD’s throne. The LORD will be at war with Amalek from generation to generation.”

“The Amalekites are living in the land of the Negev; the Hethites, Jebusites, and Amorites live in the hill country; and the Canaanites live by the sea and along the Jordan.”

Then Balaam saw Amalek and proclaimed his poem:

Amalek was first among the nations,

but his future is destruction.

David recovered everything the Amalekites had taken; he also rescued his two wives.

After the death of Saul, David returned from defeating the Amalekites and stayed at Ziklag two days.

from Edom,[fn] Moab, the Ammonites, the Philistines, the Amalekites, and the spoil of Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah.

They struck down the remnant of the Amalekites who had escaped, and they still live there today.

King David also dedicated these to the LORD, along with the silver and gold he had carried off from all the nations ​— ​from Edom, Moab, the Ammonites, the Philistines, and the Amalekites.
