Page 1 / 5 (Gen 14:24–Jdg 19:3)
God was with Ishmael, and he grew and developed; and he lived in the wilderness and became an [expert] archer.
When the boys grew up, Esau was an able and skilled hunter, a man of the outdoors, but Jacob was a quiet and peaceful man, living in tents.
Joseph, when he was seventeen years old, was shepherding the flock with his brothers [Dan, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher]; the boy was with the sons of Bilhah and Zilpah, his father’s [[fn]secondary] wives; and Joseph brought back a bad report about them to their father.
The [fn]Angel [that is, the LORD Himself] who has redeemed me [continually] from all evil,
Bless the boys;
And may my name live on in them [may they be worthy of having their names linked with mine],
And the names of my fathers Abraham and Isaac;
And may they grow into a [great] multitude in the midst of the earth.”
Then Manoah pleaded with the LORD and said, “O Lord, please let the Man of God whom You sent come again to us and teach us what we are to do for the boy who is to be born.”
So the woman [in due time] gave birth to a son and named him Samson; and the boy grew and the LORD blessed him.
Now there was a young man from Bethlehem in Judah, from the family [of the tribe] of Judah, who was a [fn]Levite; and he was staying there [temporarily].
