Cyrus = "possess thou the furnace"
the king of Persia and conqueror of Babylon; first ruler of Persia to make a decree allowing the Israelite exiles to return to Jerusalem
Strong's Number H3567 matches the Hebrew כּוֹרֶשׁ (kôreš),
which occurs 8 times in 6 verses
in the WLC Hebrew.
However, in the first year of King Cyrus of Babylon, he issued a decree to rebuild the house of God.
He also took from the temple in Babylon the gold and silver articles of God’s house that Nebuchadnezzar had taken from the temple in Jerusalem and carried them to the temple in Babylon. So the Jewish elders continued successfully with the building under the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah son of Iddo. They finished the building according to the command of the God of Israel and the decrees of Cyrus, Darius, and King Artaxerxes of Persia.
