Strong's Number H2399 matches the Hebrew חֵטְא (ḥēṭ'),
which occurs 35 times in 34 verses
in the WLC Hebrew.
‘You shall not hate your brother in your heart; you may most certainly rebuke your neighbor, but shall not incur sin because of him.
“A single witness shall not appear in a trial against a man for any wrong or any sin which he has committed; [only] [fn]on the testimony or evidence of two or three witnesses shall a charge be confirmed.
“And if a man has committed a sin worthy of death, and he is put to death and [[fn]afterward] you hang him on a tree [as a public example],
“When you make a [fn]vow to the LORD your God, you shall not delay to pay it, for He will most certainly require it of you, and a delay would cause you to sin.
“The fathers shall not be put to death for [the sins of] their children, nor shall the children be put to death for their fathers; [only] for his own sin shall anyone be put to death.
I was brought forth in [a state of] wickedness;
In sin my mother conceived me [and from my beginning I, too, was sinful].
He has not dealt with us according to our sins [as we deserve],
Nor rewarded us [with punishment] according to our wickedness.
“Come now, and let us reason together,”
Says the LORD.
“[fn]Though your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be like wool.
“Indeed, it was for my own well-being that I had such bitterness;
But You have loved back my life from the pit of nothingness (destruction),
For You have cast all my sins behind Your back.
Therefore, I will divide and give Him a portion with the great [kings and rulers],
And He shall divide the spoils with the mighty,
Because He [willingly] poured out His life to death,
And was counted among the transgressors;
Yet He Himself bore and took away the sin of many,
And interceded [with the Father] for the transgressors.
Jerusalem sinned greatly;
Therefore she has become an unclean thing [and has been removed].
All who honored her [now] despise her
Because they have seen her nakedness;
Even she herself groans and turns [her face] away.
Why should any living mortal, or any man,
Complain [of punishment] in view of his sins?
