The earth is changed as clay is by a seal;
its hills stand out like the folds of a garment.
You turned my lament into dancing;
you removed my sackcloth
and clothed me with gladness,
For day and night your hand was heavy on me;
my strength was drained[fn]
as in the summer’s heat.Selah
He turned the sea into dry land,
and they crossed the river on foot.
There we rejoiced in him.
They treacherously turned away like their ancestors;
they became warped like a faulty bow.
whose hearts he turned to hate his people
and to deal deceptively with his servants.
One with a twisted mind will not succeed,
and one with deceitful speech will fall into ruin.

Jonah set out on the first day of his walk in the city and proclaimed, “In forty days Nineveh will be demolished! ”
For I will then restore
pure speech to the peoples
so that all of them may call
on the name of the LORD
and serve him with a single purpose.[fn]
