“You shall celebrate the Feast of Booths (Tabernacles) seven days, when you have gathered in [the grain] from your threshing floor and [the wine] from your wine vat.
So she went down to the threshing floor and did just as her mother-in-law had told her.
So she lay at his feet until the morning, but got up before anyone could recognize another; Boaz said, “[fn]Do not let it be known that the woman came to the threshing floor [last night].”
Then they told David, saying, “Behold, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah and are plundering (robbing) the threshing floors [of the grain].”
When they came to Nacon’s threshing floor, Uzzah reached out [with his hand] to the ark of God and took hold of it, because the oxen [stumbled and] nearly overturned it.
Then Gad [the prophet] came to David that day and said to him, “Go up, set up an altar to the LORD on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite [where you saw the angel].”
When they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzza put out his hand to hold and steady the ark, for the oxen [that were drawing the cart] [fn]nearly overturned it.
Then the angel of the LORD commanded Gad to say to David, that David should go up and build an altar to the LORD on the [fn]threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
At that time, when David saw that the LORD had answered him on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite, he sacrificed there.
Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the LORD appeared to his father David, in the place that David had prepared, on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
“Will you have faith and depend on him to return your grain
And gather it from your threshing floor?
O my threshed people [Judah, who must be judged and trampled down by Babylon], my afflicted of the threshing floor.
What I have heard from the LORD of hosts,
The God of Israel, I have [joyfully] announced to you [that Babylon is to fall].
“[Cease your mad running after idols to]
Keep your feet from becoming bare
And your throat from becoming dry;
But you said, ‘It is hopeless!
For I have loved strangers and foreign gods,
And I will walk after them.’
For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel:
“The Daughter of Babylon is like a [fn]threshing floor
At the time it is being trampled and prepared;
Yet in a little while the time of harvest will come for her.”
Do not rejoice, O Israel, with exultation as do the [pagan] peoples,
For you have played the prostitute, turning away from your God.
You have loved prostitutes’ earnings on every threshing floor [attributing the harvest to the Baals instead of to God].
The threshing floor and the wine press will no longer feed them,
And the new wine will fail them [because they failed to honor the God who provides].
Therefore they will be [swiftly dissipated] like the morning cloud
Or like dew which soon disappears,
Like chaff which swirls with the whirlwind from the threshing floor,
And like smoke from the chimney or through the window [worthless and without substance —they will vanish].
And the threshing floors shall be full of grain,
And the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil.
