The people who live in darkness
have seen a great light,
and for those living in the land of the shadow of death,
a light has dawned.[fn]
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.
“But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. So if the light within you is darkness, how deep is that darkness!
“What I tell you in the dark, speak in the light. What you hear in a whisper,[fn] proclaim on the housetops.
He was transfigured in front of them, and his face shone like the sun; his clothes became as white as the light.
Peter followed him at a distance, right into the high priest’s courtyard. He was sitting with the servants,[fn] warming himself by the fire.
“No one, after lighting a lamp, covers it with a basket or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a lampstand so that those who come in may see its light.
“Therefore, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in an ear in private rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.
