“Uz his firstborn, his brother Buz, Kemuel the father of Aram,

Isaac was forty years old when he took as his wife Rebekah daughter of Bethuel the Aramean from Paddan-aram and sister of Laban the Aramean.

So Isaac sent Jacob to Paddan-aram, to Laban son of Bethuel the Aramean, the brother of Rebekah, the mother of Jacob and Esau.

When Joab saw that there was a battle line in front of him and another behind him, he chose some of Israel’s finest young men[fn] and lined up in formation to engage the Arameans.

so he returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds they inflicted on him in Ramoth-gilead[fn] when he fought against King Hazael of Aram. Then Judah’s King Ahaziah[fn] son of Jehoram went down to Jezreel to visit Joram son of Ahab since Joram was ill.

Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. He did what was evil in the sight of the LORD his God.

The fortress disappears from Ephraim,

and a kingdom from Damascus.

The remnant of Aram will be

like the splendor of the Israelites.

This is the declaration of the LORD of Armies.

Israelites, are you not like the Cushites to me?

This is the LORD’s declaration.

Didn’t I bring Israel from the land of Egypt,

the Philistines from Caphtor,[fn]

and the Arameans from Kir?
