“You are the [fn]salt of the earth; but if the salt has [fn]lost its taste (purpose), how can it be made salty? It is no longer good for anything, but to be thrown out and walked on by people [when the walkways are wet and slippery].

While He was still speaking, someone from the synagogue official’s house came and said [to Jairus], “Your daughter is dead; do not inconvenience the Teacher any further.”

While He was still speaking, a crowd came, and the man called Judas, one of the twelve [disciples], was leading the way for them. He approached Jesus to [fn]kiss Him.

Then He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you, everything which has been written about Me in the [fn]Law of Moses and the [writings of the] Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”

Now Jesus had not yet entered the village, but was still at the place where Martha had met Him.
