So God created the large sea-creatures and every living creature that moves and swarms in the water, according to their kinds. He also created every winged creature according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
Then God said, “Let the earth produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that crawl, and the wildlife of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so.
“for all the wildlife of the earth, for every bird of the sky, and for every creature that crawls on the earth — everything having the breath of life in it — I have given[fn] every green plant for food.” And it was so.
Then the LORD God formed the man out of the dust from the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, and the man became a living being.
The LORD God formed out of the ground every wild animal and every bird of the sky, and brought each to the man to see what he would call it. And whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name.
“And I will require a penalty for your lifeblood;[fn] I will require it from any animal and from any human; if someone murders a fellow human, I will require that person's life.
“You must not oppress a resident alien; you yourselves know how it feels to be a resident alien because you were resident aliens in the land of Egypt.
“Anyone from the house of Israel or from the aliens who reside among them who eats any blood, I will turn[fn] against that person who eats blood and cut him off from his people.
“But if a priest purchases someone with his own silver, that person may eat it, and those born in his house may eat his food.
“then I will do this to you: I will bring terror on you — wasting disease and fever that will cause your eyes to fail and your life to ebb away. You will sow your seed in vain because your enemies will eat it.
“Set aside a tribute for the LORD from what belongs to the fighting men who went out to war: one out of every five hundred people, cattle, donkeys, sheep, and goats.
“designate cities to serve as cities of refuge for you, so that a person who kills someone unintentionally may flee there.
“These six cities will serve as a refuge for the Israelites and for the alien or temporary resident among them, so that anyone who kills a person unintentionally may flee there.
“If anyone kills a person, the murderer is to be put to death based on the word of witnesses. But no one is to be put to death based on the testimony of one witness.
“Do not show pity: life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, and foot for foot.
“Do not take a pair of grindstones or even the upper millstone as security for a debt, because that is like taking a life as security.
“If a man is discovered kidnapping one of his Israelite brothers, whether he treats him as a slave or sells him, the kidnapper must die. You must purge the evil from you.
“‘The one who accepts a bribe to kill an innocent person is cursed.'
And all the people will say, ‘Amen! '
“so that a person who kills someone unintentionally or accidentally may flee there. These will be your refuge from the avenger of blood.
These are the cities appointed for all the Israelites and the aliens residing among them, so that anyone who kills a person unintentionally may flee there and not die at the hand of the avenger of blood until he stands before the assembly.
The Danites said to him, “Don't raise your voice against us, or angry men will attack you, and you and your family will lose your lives.”
“He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. Indeed, your daughter-in-law, who loves you and is better to you than seven sons, has given birth to him.”
“He took his life in his hands when he struck down the Philistine, and the LORD brought about a great victory for all Israel. You saw it and rejoiced, so why would you sin against innocent blood by killing David for no reason? ”
Saul sent agents to David's house to watch for him and kill him in the morning. But his wife Michal warned David, “If you don't escape tonight, you will be dead tomorrow! ”
Jonathan once again swore to David[fn] in his love for him, because he loved him as he loved himself.

Ahab also made an Asherah pole. Ahab did more to anger the LORD God of Israel than all the kings of Israel who were before him.
So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “May the gods punish me and do so severely if I don't make your life like the life of one of them by this time tomorrow! ”
Then Elijah became afraid[fn] and immediately ran for his life. When he came to Beer-sheba that belonged to Judah, he left his servant there,
but he went on a day's journey into the wilderness. He sat down under a broom tree and prayed that he might die. He said, “I have had enough! LORD, take my life, for I'm no better than my ancestors.”
So they had gotten up and fled at twilight, abandoning their tents, horses, and donkeys. The camp was intact, and they had fled for their lives.
God said to Solomon, “Since this was in your heart, and you have not requested riches, wealth, or glory, or for the life of those who hate you, and you have not even requested long life, but you have requested for yourself wisdom and knowledge that you may judge my people over whom I have made you king,
if I have consumed its produce without payment
or shown contempt for its tenants,[fn]
The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who has not appealed to[fn] what is false,
and who has not sworn deceitfully.
“You discipline a person with punishment for iniquity,
consuming like a moth what is precious to him;
yes, every human being is only a vapor.Selah
Do not give to beasts the life of your dove;[fn]
do not forget the lives of your poor people forever.
What courageous person can live and never see death?
Who can save himself from the power of Sheol?Selah
They band together against the life of the righteous
and condemn the innocent to death.
Such are the paths of all who make profit dishonestly;
it takes the lives of those who receive it.[fn]
The LORD will not let the righteous go hungry,
but he denies the wicked what they crave.
A righteous person eats until he is satisfied,
but the stomach of the wicked is empty.
Anyone who ignores discipline despises himself,
but whoever listens to correction acquires good sense.[fn]
A person with intense anger bears the penalty;
if you rescue him, you'll have to do it again.
There are thorns and snares on the way of the crooked;
the one who guards himself stays far from them.
Therefore Sheol enlarges its throat
and opens wide its enormous jaws,
and down go Zion's dignitaries, her masses,
her crowds, and those who celebrate in her!
He feeds on[fn] ashes.
His deceived mind has led him astray,
and he cannot rescue himself,
or say, “Isn't there a lie in my right hand? ”
“Look, they are like stubble;
fire burns them.
They cannot rescue themselves
from the power of the flame.
This is not a coal for warming themselves,
or a fire to sit beside!
“Will the fast I choose be like this:
A day for a person to deny himself,
to bow his head like a reed,
and to spread out sackcloth and ashes?
Will you call this a fast
and a day acceptable to the LORD?
“and if you offer yourself[fn] to the hungry,
and satisfy the afflicted one,
then your light will shine in the darkness,
and your night will be like noonday.
The LORD announced to me, “Unfaithful Israel has shown herself more righteous than treacherous Judah.
Sing to the LORD!
Praise the LORD,
for he rescues the life of the needy
from evil people.
I will refresh the priests with an abundance,[fn]
and my people will be satisfied with my goodness.
This is the LORD's declaration.
King Zedekiah swore to Jeremiah in private, “As the LORD lives, who has given us this life, I will not kill you or hand you over to these men who intend to take your life.”
Then Johanan son of Kareah suggested to Gedaliah in private at Mizpah, “Let me go kill Ishmael son of Nethaniah. No one will know it. Why should he kill you and allow all of Judah that has gathered around you to scatter and the remnant of Judah to perish? ”
This is what the LORD says: I am about to hand over Pharaoh Hophra, Egypt's king, to his enemies, to those who intend to take his life, just as I handed over Judah's King Zedekiah to Babylon's King Nebuchadnezzar, who was his enemy, the one who intended to take his life.' ”
I will devastate Elam before their enemies,
before those who intend to take their lives.
I will bring disaster on them,
my burning anger.
This is the LORD's declaration.
I will send the sword after them
until I finish them off.
Leave Babylon;
save your lives, each of you!
Don't perish because of her guilt.
For this is the time of the LORD's vengeance —
he will pay her what she deserves.
“But if you warn the righteous person that he should not sin, and he does not sin, he will indeed live because he listened to your warning, and you will have rescued yourself.”
“But if a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed and does what is just and right, he will preserve his life.
“Since he heard the sound of the ram's horn but ignored the warning, his death is his own fault.[fn] If he had taken warning, he would have saved his life.
“But if you warn a wicked person to turn from his way and he doesn't turn from it, he will die for his iniquity, but you will have rescued yourself.
“A priest may not come near a dead person so that he becomes defiled. However, he may defile himself for a father, a mother, a son, a daughter, a brother, or an unmarried sister.
Escape will fail the swift,
the strong one will not maintain his strength,
and the warrior will not save his life.
The archer will not stand his ground,
the one who is swift of foot
will not save himself,
and the one riding a horse will not save his life.
As the sun was rising, God appointed a scorching east wind. The sun beat down on Jonah's head so much that he almost fainted, and he wanted to die. He said, “It's better for me to die than to live.”
