Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:3 - Moshe sent them from the wilderness of Paran according to the mitzvah of the LORD: all of them men who were heads of the children of Yisra'el.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:4 - These were their names: Of the tribe of Re'uven, Shammua the son of Zakkur.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:5 - Of the tribe of Shim`on, Shafat the son of Hori.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:6 - Of the tribe of Yehudah, Kalev the son of Yefunneh.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:7 - Of the tribe of Yissakhar, Yig'al the son of Yosef.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:8 - Of the tribe of Efrayim, Hoshea the son of Nun.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:9 - Of the tribe of Binyamin, Palti the son of Rafu.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:10 - Of the tribe of Zevulun, Gaddi'el the son of Sodi.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:11 - Of the tribe of Yosef, namely, of the tribe of Menashsheh, Gaddi the son of Susi.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:12 - Of the tribe of Dan, `Ammi'el the son of Gemalli.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:13 - Of the tribe of Asher, Setur the son of Mikha'el.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:14 - Of the tribe of Naftali, Nachbi the son of Vofsi.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:15 - Of the tribe of Gad, Ge'u'el the son of Makhi.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:16 - These are the names of the men who Moshe sent to spy out the land. Moshe called Hoshea the son of Nun Yehoshua.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:17 - Moshe sent them to spy out the land of Kana`an, and said to them, Go up this way by the South, and go up into the hill-country:
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:18 - and see the land, what it is; and the people who dwell therein, whether they are strong or weak, whether they are few or many;
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:19 - and what the land is that they dwell in, whether it is good or bad; and what cities they are that they dwell in, whether in camps, or in strongholds;
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:20 - and what the land is, whether it is fat or lean, whether there is wood therein, or not. Be of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the first-ripe grapes.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:21 - So they went up, and spied out the land from the wilderness of Tzin to Rechov, to the entrance of Hamat.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:22 - They went up by the South, and came to Hevron; and Achiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of `Anak, were there. (Now Hevron was built seven years before Tzo`an in Mitzrayim.)
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:23 - They came to the valley of Eshkol, and cut down from there a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bore it on a staff between two; they brought also of the pomegranates, and of the figs.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:24 - That place was called the valley of Eshkol, because of the cluster which the children of Yisra'el cut down from there.

The Spies' Reports

Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:25 - They returned from spying out the land at the end of forty days.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:26 - They went and came to Moshe, and to Aharon, and to all the congregation of the children of Yisra'el, to the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word to them, and to all the congregation, and shown them the fruit of the land.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:27 - They told him, and said, We came to the land where you sent us; and surely it flows with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:28 - However the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of `Anak there.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:29 - `Amalek dwells in the land of the South: and the Hittite, and the Yevusi, and the Amori, dwell in the hill-country; and the Kana`ani dwells by the sea, and along by the side of the Yarden.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:30 - Kalev stilled the people before Moshe, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:31 - But the men who went up with him said, We aren't able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:32 - They brought up an evil report of the land which they had spied out to the children of Yisra'el, saying, The land, through which we have gone to spy it out, is a land that eats up the inhabitants of it; and all the people who we saw in it are men of great stature.
Unchecked Copy BoxNum 13:33 - There we saw the Nefilim, the sons of `Anak, who come of the Nefilim: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.
