Judas Betrays Jesus

(Mat 26:47–56; Mar 14:43–52; Luk 22:47–53 )
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:1 - When Yeshua had spoken these words, he went out with his talmidim over the brook Kidron, where was a garden, into which he and his talmidim entered.
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:2 - Now Yehudah, who betrayed him, also knew the place, for Yeshua often resorted there with his talmidim.
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:3 - Yehudah then, having taken a detachment of soldiers and officers from the chief Kohanim and the Perushim, came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons.
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:4 - Yeshua therefore, knowing all the things that were happening to him, went forth, and said to them, "Who are you looking for?"
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:5 - They answered him, "Yeshua of Natzeret." Yeshua said to them, "I AM." Yehudah also, who betrayed him, was standing with them.
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:6 - When therefore he said to them, "I AM," they went backward, and fell to the ground.
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:7 - Again therefore he asked them, "Who are you looking for?" They said, "Yeshua of Natzeret."
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:8 - Yeshua answered, "I told you that I AM. If therefore you seek me, let these go their way,"
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:9 - that the word might be fulfilled which he spoke, "Of those whom you have given me, I have lost none."
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:10 - Shim`on Rock therefore, having a sword, drew it, and struck the Kohen Gadol's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Melekh.
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:11 - Yeshua therefore said to Rock, "Put the sword into its sheath. The cup which the Father has given me, shall I not surely drink it?"

Jesus before the Priests

Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:12 - So the detachment, the commanding officer, and the officers of the Yehudim, seized Yeshua and bound him,
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:13 - and led him to Anan first, for he was father-in-law to Kayafa, who was Kohen Gadol that year.
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:14 - Now it was Kayafa who advised the Yehudim that it was expedient that one man should perish for the people.
(Mat 26:69–75; Mar 14:66–72; Luk 22:54–62 )
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:15 - Shim`on Rock followed Yeshua, as did another talmid. Now that talmid was known to the Kohen Gadol, and entered in with Yeshua into the court of the Kohen Gadol;
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:16 - but Rock was standing at the door outside. So the other talmid, who was known to the Kohen Gadol, went out and spoke to her who kept the door, and brought in Rock.
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:17 - Then the maid who kept the door said to Rock, "Are you also one of this man's talmidim?" He said, "I am not."
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:18 - Now the servants and the officers were standing there, having made a fire of coals, for it was cold. They were warming themselves. Rock was with them, standing and warming himself.
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:19 - The Kohen Gadol therefore asked Yeshua about his talmidim, and about his teaching.
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:20 - Yeshua answered him, "I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues, and in the temple, where the Yehudim always meet. I said nothing in secret.
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:21 - Why do you ask me? Ask those who have heard me what I said to them. Behold, these know the things which I said."
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:22 - When he had said this, one of the officers standing by slapped Yeshua with his hand, saying, "Do you answer the Kohen Gadol like that?"
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:23 - Yeshua answered him, "If I have spoken evil, testify of the evil; but if well, why do you beat me?"
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:24 - Anan sent him bound to Kayafa, the Kohen Gadol.

Peter's Denial of Jesus

Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:25 - Now Shim`on Rock was standing and warming himself. They said therefore to him, "You aren't also one of his talmidim, are you?" He denied it, and said, "I am not."
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:26 - One of the servants of the Kohen Gadol, being a relative of him whose ear Rock had cut off, said, "Didn't I see you in the garden with him?"
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:27 - Rock therefore denied it again, and immediately the rooster crowed.

Jesus before Pilate

(Mat 27:1, 2, 11–14; Mar 15:1–5; Luk 23:1–5 )
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:28 - They led Yeshua therefore from Kayafa into the Praetorium. It was early, and they themselves didn't enter into the Praetorium, that they might not be defiled, but might eat the Pesach.
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:29 - Pilate therefore went out to them, and said, "What accusation do you bring against this man?"
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:30 - They answered him, "If this man weren't an evildoer, we wouldn't have delivered him up to you."
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:31 - Pilate therefore said to them, "Take him yourselves, and judge him according to your law." Therefore the Yehudim said to him, "It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death,"
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:32 - that the word of Yeshua might be fulfilled, which he spoke, signifying by what kind of death he should die.
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:33 - Pilate therefore entered again into the Praetorium, called Yeshua, and said to him, "Are you the King of the Yehudim?"
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:34 - Yeshua answered him, "Do you say this by yourself, or did others tell you about me?"
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:35 - Pilate answered, "I'm not a Yehudi, am I? Your own nation and the chief Kohanim delivered you to me. What have you done?"
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:36 - Yeshua answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, then my servants would fight, that I wouldn't be delivered to the Yehudim. But now my kingdom is not from here."
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:37 - Pilate therefore said to him, "Are you a king then?" Yeshua answered, "You say that I am a king. For this reason I have been born, and for this reason I have come into the world, that I should testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice."
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:38 - Pilate said to him, "What is truth?" When he had said this, he went out again to the Yehudim, and said to them, "I find no basis for a charge against him.
(Mat 27:15–23; Mar 15:6–14; Luk 23:13–23 )
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:39 - But you have a custom, that I should release someone to you at the Pesach. Therefore do you want me to release to you the King of the Yehudim?"
Unchecked Copy BoxJhn 18:40 - Then they all shouted again, saying, "Not this man, but Bar-Abba!" Now Bar-Abba was a robber.
