H. Hastings Weld

Horatio Hastings Weld (1811-1888) was born in Boston, Massachusetts, where he was a craftsman printer and eventual editor of newspapers in New York and Philadelphia. In 1845 Weld took orders in the Protestant Episcopal Church. He became the rector of several churches, such as St. James Church of Downingtown, Trinity Church of Morristown, and Christ Church of Riverton. He received the Doctorate of Sacred Theology from Andalusia College, in 1868. Some of Dr. Weld’s numerous books include: The Women of the Scriptures (1848); Life of Christ (1850); and Sacred and Poetical Quotations (1851). He died in Riverton, New Jersey at the age of seventy-seven.

The Women of the Scriptures is a volume of collected works by various authors, amongst which Horatio Weld is included.
