Never Ever Condemned Again

  1. The Glorious Fact – Rom 8:1
    1. Therefore there is now no condemnation to those in Christ
      1. It is overwhelming
      2. Not new – but awesome
      3. The heart of the Gospel
      4. The good news – The great news
    2. Therefore the link to context of Rom 5:1 – assurance
    3. Now – A change from a previous condition
    4. No condemnation
      1. No – None – Never – Nothing can condemn
      2. Nothing can separate – Rom 8:38-39
    5. No condemnation – No punishment
      1. No curse
      2. No bondage
      3. No wrath
      4. No hell
      5. No judgment
    6. Released
      1. Out from under
      2. What about my present sin?
      3. Cannot condemn!
    7. What is the difference between an unbeliever sinning and a believer sinning?
      1. One – A legal matter of law
      2. Other – Family relationship
    8. No condemnation –
      1. Gone forever
      2. Settled – Certain
    9. Does not say –
      1. No failure – No sin – No weakness
      2. No faults – No struggles – No trials
    10. It does say no condemnation
      1. A truth to believe
      2. A glorious fact
      3. Do not allow condemnation
        1. Self – Satan – Others
    11. Do not allow feelings of condemnation – believe Romans 8:1
    12. To whom is this fact applied?
      1. To them who are in Christ Jesus
      2. Not universal – Not everyone
      3. In Christ Jesus
        1. We are placed there – put there
        2. We remain there
        3. Nothing can take us out
        4. “In” – Union – Oneness
      4. We were in Adam
        1. Sharing in what He did
      5. Now we are in Christ
        1. The glorious fact – Rom 8:1
  2. The Perfect Explanation
    1. Because – Reason
    2. Thru Christ
      1. Always only
      2. His life is life – His death – His resurrection
    3. Law of the Spirit of Life is the forceful, powerful, effective working of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers
      1. Producing fruit – Qualities
      2. Now dominant
    4. The law of sin and death
      1. Living out of self was dominant
      2. Works – Law – Etc.
      3. Apart from the Holy Spirit
    5. We have been set free
      1. Made free
      2. An action outside of us
      3. We were passive
      4. Set free no longer under bondage
        1. Once and forever
        2. Complete – Absolute
    6. Who set us free?
      1. The Spirit of Life in Christ
      2. The grace of God in Christ
      3. The rule and authority of the Holy Spirit is greater than our sin nature or the bondage of the Law
  3. The Divine Cause – How it comes about
    1. For what the Law was powerless to do: Justify
    2. Because of human weakness – Sin – Inability
      1. Law had to be carried out
      2. We did not obey
    3. What God did – Justified
    4. By sending His Own Son
      1. The predestinated plan –
      2. Act 2:23; 1Pe 1:2-5; Rom 8:32
      3. In the likeness of sinful flesh – human
      4. To bear our sin, punishment and guilt
      5. To give us His nature
      6. To be our Great High Priest
  4. The Practical Purpose
    1. In order that
    2. The righteous requirements of the Law might be fulfilled in us:
    3. To secure holiness in us
    4. Law failed because of our inability to obey
    5. Grace succeeds because of God’s ability to give
    6. The righteousness demanded by Law has been given by grace
    7. We fulfill the Law thru faith in Christ
  5. Application
    1. Now we live
    2. Not according to the sinful nature – Self – Works – Law
    3. But according to the Spirit
      1. Fruit – Qualities
      2. Never independently
        1. Under authority
        2. Heart to obey
          1. Taught
          2. Led
          3. Empowered
    4. Out of gratitude
      1. We love Him
      2. We serve Him
  6. Not Just for Special Christians
    1. The realm of all believers
  7. Point of Assurance
    1. Of certainty
    2. Of security
  8. Will We Respond?
  9. Is Christ our Savior?
  10. Will we trust Him for
    1. Forgiveness
    2. Deliverance
    3. Set free
    4. To live
    5. According to the Spirit
      1. Of life
      2. Of God
