Lamech said to his wives:
Adah and Zillah, hear my voice;
wives of Lamech, pay attention to my words.
For I killed a man for wounding me,
a young man for striking me.
Lamech said to his wives,
“Adah and Zillah,
Hear my voice;
You wives of Lamech,
Listen to what I say;
For I have killed a man [merely] for wounding me,
And a boy [only] for striking (bruising) me.
وَقَالَ لاَمَكُ لامْرَأَتَيْهِ عَادَةَ وَصِلَّةَ: «اسْمَعَا قَوْلِي يَا امْرَأَتَيْ لاَمَكَ، وَأَصْغِيَا لِكَلاَمِي. فَإِنِّي قَتَلْتُ رَجُلاً لِجُرْحِي، وَفَتىً لِشَدْخِي.
