ثُمَّ أَمَرَ فِرْعَوْنُ جَمِيعَ شَعْبِهِ قَائِلاً: «كُلُّ ابْنٍ يُولَدُ تَطْرَحُونَهُ فِي النَّهْرِ، لكِنَّ كُلَّ بِنْتٍ تَسْتَحْيُونَهَا».

ثُمَّ أَصْدَرَ فِرْعَوْنُ أَمْرَهُ لِجَمِيعِ شَعْبِهِ قَائِلاً: «اطْرَحُوا كُلَّ ابْنٍ (عِبْرَانِيٍّ) يُوْلَدُ فِي النَّهْرِ، أَمَّا الْبَنَاتُ فَاسْتَحْيُوهُنَّ».
