وَإِذَا بِشَاوُلَ آتٍ وَرَاءَ الْبَقَرِ مِنَ الْحَقْلِ، فَقَالَ شَاوُلُ: «مَا بَالُ الشَّعْبِ يَبْكُونَ؟» فَقَصُّوا عَلَيْهِ كَلاَمَ أَهْلِ يَابِيشَ.

وَفِيمَا هُمْ كَذَلِكَ، أَقْبَلَ شَاوُلُ مِنَ الْحَقْلِ يَقُودُ أَمَامَهُ الْبَقَرَ، فَتَسَاءَلَ: «مَا بَالُ الشَّعْبِ يَبْكِي؟» فَرَوَوْا لَهُ خَبَرَ أَهْلِ يَابِيشَ،
