فَأجَابَ وَاحِدٌ مِنَ الشَّعْبِ وَقَالَ: «قَدْ حَلَّفَ أَبُوكَ الشَّعْبَ حَلْفًا قَائِلاً: مَلْعُونٌ الرَّجُلُ الَّذِي يَأْكُلُ خُبْزًا الْيَوْمَ. فَأَعْيَا الشَّعْبُ».

فَقَالَ لَهُ وَاحِدٌ مِنَ الْمُحَارِبِينَ: «قَدْ حَلَّفَ أَبُوكَ الْقَوْمَ قَائِلاً: مَلْعُونٌ الرَّجُلُ الَّذِي يَأْكُلُ الْيَوْمَ طَعَاماً»، فَأَصَابَ الشَّعْبَ الإِعْيَاءُ.
