David told the messenger, “Say this to Joab: ‘Don’t let this upset you; the sword devours one as well as another. Press the attack against the city and destroy it.’ Say this to encourage Joab.”

فَقَالَ دَاوُدُ لِلرَّسُولِ: « هكَذَا تَقُولُ لِيُوآبَ: لاَ يَسُؤْ فِي عَيْنَيْكَ هذَا الأَمْرُ، لأَنَّ السَّيْفَ يَأْكُلُ هذَا وَذَاكَ. شَدِّدْ قِتَالَكَ عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ وَأَخْرِبْهَا. وَشَدِّدْهُ».

فَقَالَ دَاوُدُ لِلرَّسُولِ: «هَذَا مَا تُخْبِرُ بِهِ يُوآبَ: لَا يَسُوءَنَّكَ هَذَا الأَمْرُ، فَإِنَّ السَّيْفَ يَلْتَهِمُ هَذَا وَذَاكَ. شَدِّدْ حِصَارَكَ عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ وَدَمِّرْهَا. قُلْ هَذَا لِتَشْجِيعِ يُوآبَ».
