فَلَمَّا أُخْبِرَ مَلِكُ مِصْرَ أَنَّ الشَّعْبَ قَدْ هَرَبَ، تَغَيَّرَ قَلْبُ فِرْعَوْنَ وَعَبِيدِهِ عَلَى الشَّعْبِ. فَقَالُوا: «مَاذَا فَعَلْنَا حَتَّى أَطْلَقْنَا إِسْرَائِيلَ مِنْ خِدْمَتِنَا؟»

وَقِيلَ لِمَلِكِ مِصْرَ: «هُوَذا الشَّعْبُ قَدْ هَرَبَ». فَتَحَوَّلَ قَلْبُ فِرْعَوْنَ وَقُلُوبُ حَاشِيَتِهِ ضِدَّهُمْ، وَقَالُوا: «مَاذَا دَهَانَا حَتَّى أَطْلَقْنَا إِسْرَائِيلَ مِنْ خِدْمَتِنَا؟»
