"Take the staff; and you and your brother Aaron assemble the congregation and speak to the rock before their eyes, that it shall yield its water. So you shall bring water for them out of the rock, and have the congregation and their livestock drink."
He who led you through the great and terrible wilderness, [with its] fiery serpents and scorpions, and [its] thirsty ground where there was no water; He who brought water for you out of the rock of flint.
"The Rock! His work is perfect, For all His ways are just; A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and just is He.
"There is no one holy like the LORD, Indeed, there is no one besides You, Nor is there any rock like our God.
He said, "The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my savior, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
For on the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; He will hide me in the secret place of His tent; He will lift me up on a rock.
Incline Your ear to me, rescue me quickly; Be a rock of strength for me, A stronghold to save me.
For You are my rock and my fortress; For the sake of Your name You will lead me and guide me.
He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the mud; And He set my feet on a rock, making my footsteps firm.
I will say to God my rock, "Why have You forgotten me? Why do I go about mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?"
From the end of the earth I call to You when my heart is faint; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
Be to me a rock of dwelling to which I may continually come; You have given the commandment to save me, For You are my rock and my fortress.
But the LORD has been my refuge, And my God the rock of my refuge.
"Trust in the LORD forever, For in GOD the LORD, [we have] an everlasting Rock.
You will have songs as in the night when you keep the festival, And gladness of heart as when one marches to [the sound of] the flute, To go to the mountain of the LORD, to the Rock of Israel.
Each will be like a refuge from the wind And a shelter from the storm, Like streams of water in a dry country, Like the shade of a huge rock in an exhausted land.
He will dwell on the heights, His refuge will be the impregnable rock; His bread will be given [him,] His water will be sure.
'Do not tremble and do not be afraid; Have I not long since announced [it] to you and declared [it?] And you are My witnesses. Is there any God besides Me, Or is there any [other] Rock? I know of none.'"
"Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine, and acts on them, will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
"And the rain fell and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and [yet] it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.
"And everyone who hears these words of Mine, and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.
"And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.
"But the one who has heard and has not acted [accordingly] is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation; and the river burst against it and it immediately collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great."
and they all ate the same spiritual food,
and all drank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking from a spiritual rock which followed them; and the rock was Christ.
Nevertheless, with most of them God was not pleased; for [their dead bodies] were spread out in the wilderness.
Create in me a clean heart, God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
"The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in You.
if indeed you continue in the faith firmly established and steadfast, and not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you have heard, which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, was made a minister.
"And you shall never cut off your loyalty to my house, not even when the LORD cuts off every one of the enemies of David from the face of the earth."
but My favor shall not depart from him, as I took [it] away from Saul, whom I removed from you.
He said, "LORD, God of Israel, there is no god like You in heaven or on earth, keeping Your covenant and Your faithfulness to Your servants who walk before You with all their heart;
All the sons of Israel, seeing the fire come down and the glory of the LORD upon the house, bowed down on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave praise to the LORD, [saying,] "Certainly He is good, certainly His faithfulness is everlasting."
Show Your wonderful faithfulness, Savior of those who take refuge at Your right hand From those who rise up [against them.]
Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, And Your dominion [endures] throughout all generations. The LORD is faithful in His words, And holy in all His works.
it keeps every confidence, it believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.
Now it will come about that In the last days The mountain of the house of the LORD Will be established as the chief of the mountains, And will be raised above the hills; And all the nations will stream to it.
And many peoples will come and say, "Come, let's go up to the mountain of the LORD, To the house of the God of Jacob; So that He may teach us about His ways, And that we may walk in His paths." For the law will go out from Zion And the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
Even those I will bring to My holy mountain, And make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be acceptable on My altar; For My house will be called a house of prayer for all the peoples."
"The wolf and the lamb will graze together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox; and dust will be the serpent's food. They will do no evil or harm on all My holy mountain," says the LORD.
Now when Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain; and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him.
Six days later, Jesus took with Him Peter and James, and his brother John, and led them up on a high mountain by themselves.
And He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as light.
And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him.
Peter responded and said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good that we are here. If You want, I will make three tabernacles here: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah."
While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice from the cloud said, "This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him!"
When the disciples heard [this,] they fell face down to the ground and were terrified.
And Jesus came to [them] and touched them and said, "Get up, and do not be afraid."
And raising their eyes, they saw no one except Jesus Himself alone.
When they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, "Tell the vision to no one until the Son of Man has risen from the dead."
And He said to them, "Because of your meager faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you."
Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.
Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist on the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
Stand firm therefore, having belted your waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
Therefore, my beloved brothers [and sisters,] whom I long [to see,] my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, my beloved.
for now we [really] live, if you stand firm in the Lord.
but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, my beloved brothers [and sisters,] be firm, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not [in] vain in the Lord.
So then, brothers [and sisters,] stand firm and hold on to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word [of mouth] or by letter from us.
Through Silvanus, our faithful brother (for so I regard [him]), I have written to you briefly, exhorting and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it!
And the priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan while all Israel crossed on dry ground, until all the nation had finished crossing the Jordan.
For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood firm.
His heart is firm, he will not fear, But will look [with satisfaction] on his enemies.
"But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear.
"For truly I say to you that many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, and did not see [it,] and to hear what you hear, and did not hear [it.]
"Listen then to the parable of the sower.
"When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand [it,] the evil [one] comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is the one sown [with seed] beside the road.
"The one sown [with seed] on the rocky places, this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy;
yet he has no [firm] root in himself, but is [only] temporary, and when affliction or persecution occurs because of the word, immediately he falls away.
"And the one sown [with seed] among the thorns, this is the one who hears the word, and the anxiety of the world and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
"But the one sown [with seed] on the good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces, some a hundred, some sixty, and some thirty [times as much.]"
Not that we domineer over your faith, but we are workers with you for your joy; for in your faith you are standing firm.
It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.
Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear about you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are His;" and, "Everyone who names the name of the Lord is to keep away from wickedness."
For we have become partakers of Christ if we keep the beginning of our commitment firm until the end,
So resist him, firm in [your] faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brothers and sisters who are in the world.
Recognizing the value of consistent reflection upon the Word of God in order to refocus one's mind and heart upon Christ and His Gospel of peace, we provide several reading plans designed to cover the entire Bible in a year.
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical,
conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy
of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a
range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed
in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
