Sheminith:
eighth (an eight-stringed instrument)
Sheminith:
(eighth) a musical term found in the title of Psalm 6:1. A similar direction is found in the title of Psalm 12:1 (compare 1 Chronicles 15:21). It seems most probable that Sheminith denotes a certain air known as the eighth, or a certain key in which the psalm was to be sung.
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
