Rabboni:
rab-o'-ni, rab-o'-ni (rhabboni, "my great master" (Mr 10:51); rhabbouni (Westcott-Hort rhabbounei), (Joh 20:16)).of agoraios (literally, "lounger in the market place"), in Ac 17:5, where it replaces "baser sort" of the King James Version. It has the common meaning of an unruly, lawless set who are ready to join a mob.

Rabboni: My Great Teacher, Master.
Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, RABBONI; which is to say, Master. Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. (John 20:15-17)

Rabboni:
formed in a similar way to the above, was an Aramaic form of a title almost entirely applied to the president of the Sanhedrin, if such was a descendant of Hillel. It was even more respectful than Rabbi, and signified "My great master;" in its use in the NT the pronominal force of the suffix is apparently retained (contrast Rabbi above); it is found in Mar 10:51 in the best texts, RV, "Rabboni" (AV, "Lord"), addressed to Christ by blind Bartimaeus, and in Jhn 20:16 by Mary Magdalene, where it is interpreted by didaskalos, "Master" (marg., "Teacher").
Rabboni:
(John 30:18). SEE [RABBI].
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
