Immortality:
perpetuity of existence. The doctrine of immortality is taught in the Old Testament. It is plainly implied in the writings of Moses (Gen 5:22,24; 25:8; 37:35; 47:9; Hbr 11:13-16; Exd 3:6, comp. Matt. 22:23). It is more clearly and fully taught in the later books (Isa 14:9; Psa 17:15; 49:15; 73:24). It was thus a doctrine obviously well known to the Jews.
With the full revelation of the gospel this doctrine was "brought to light" (2Ti 1:10; 1Cr 15; 2Cr 5:1-6; 1Th 4:13-18).
Immortality: Incorruption; an Imperishable State.
So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on IMMORTALITY, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. (1 Corinthians 15:54)
Immortality:
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
