Salcah, or Salchah:
(migration) a city named in the early records of Israel as the extreme limit of Bashan (Deuteronomy 3:10; Joshua 13:11) and of the tribe of Gad (1 Chronicles 5:71). On another occasion the name seems to denote a district rather than a town (Joshua 12:5). It is identical with the town of Sulkhad (56 miles east of the Jordan, at the southern extremity of the Hauran range of mountains. The place is nearly deserted, though it contains 800 stone houses, many of them in a good state of preservation.‐ED.)
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
