Lachet:
the thong or fastening by which the sandal was attached to the foot. It occurs in the proverbial expression in Genesis 14:23 and is there used to denote something trivial or worthless. Another semi‐proverbial expression in Luke 3:16 points to the fact that the office of bearing and unfastening the shoes of great personages fell to the meanest slaves.
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
