Judith:
(Jewess, or praised).
(1.) The daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and wife of Esau (Genesis 26:34). (B.C. 1797)
(2.) The heroine of the apocryphal book which bears her name, who appears as an ideal type of piety, (Judith 8:6) beauty (Judith 11:21) courage and chastity (Judith 16:22; ff.).
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
