Psa 8:1

Psa 8:1For the choir director: A psalm of David, to be accompanied by a stringed instrument.[fn]

O LORD, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!
Your glory is higher than the heavens.

Psa 8:2

Psa 8:2You have taught children and infants
to tell of your strength,[fn]
silencing your enemies
and all who oppose you.

Psa 8:3

Psa 8:3When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—
the moon and the stars you set in place—

Psa 8:4

Psa 8:4what are mere mortals that you should think about them,
human beings that you should care for them?[fn]

Psa 8:5

Psa 8:5Yet you made them only a little lower than God[fn]
and crowned them[fn] with glory and honor.

Psa 8:6

Psa 8:6You gave them charge of everything you made,
putting all things under their authority—

Psa 8:7

Psa 8:7the flocks and the herds
and all the wild animals,

Psa 8:8

Psa 8:8the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea,
and everything that swims the ocean currents.

Psa 8:9

Psa 8:9O LORD, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!
