The Benefits of Wisdom

Pro 2:1

Pro 2:1My child,[fn] listen to what I say,
and treasure my commands.

Pro 2:2

Pro 2:2Tune your ears to wisdom,
and concentrate on understanding.

Pro 2:3

Pro 2:3Cry out for insight,
and ask for understanding.

Pro 2:4

Pro 2:4Search for them as you would for silver;
seek them like hidden treasures.

Pro 2:5

Pro 2:5Then you will understand what it means to fear the LORD,
and you will gain knowledge of God.

Pro 2:6

Pro 2:6For the LORD grants wisdom!
From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

Pro 2:7

Pro 2:7He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest.
He is a shield to those who walk with integrity.

Pro 2:8

Pro 2:8He guards the paths of the just
and protects those who are faithful to him.

Pro 2:9

Pro 2:9Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair,
and you will find the right way to go.

Pro 2:10

Pro 2:10For wisdom will enter your heart,
and knowledge will fill you with joy.

Pro 2:11

Pro 2:11Wise choices will watch over you.
Understanding will keep you safe.

Pro 2:12

Pro 2:12Wisdom will save you from evil people,
from those whose words are twisted.

Pro 2:13

Pro 2:13These men turn from the right way
to walk down dark paths.

Pro 2:14

Pro 2:14They take pleasure in doing wrong,
and they enjoy the twisted ways of evil.

Pro 2:15

Pro 2:15Their actions are crooked,
and their ways are wrong.

Pro 2:16

Pro 2:16Wisdom will save you from the immoral woman,
from the seductive words of the promiscuous woman.

Pro 2:17

Pro 2:17She has abandoned her husband
and ignores the covenant she made before God.

Pro 2:18

Pro 2:18Entering her house leads to death;
it is the road to the grave.[fn]

Pro 2:19

Pro 2:19The man who visits her is doomed.
He will never reach the paths of life.

Pro 2:20

Pro 2:20Follow the steps of good men instead,
and stay on the paths of the righteous.

Pro 2:21

Pro 2:21For only the godly will live in the land,
and those with integrity will remain in it.

Pro 2:22

Pro 2:22But the wicked will be removed from the land,
and the treacherous will be uprooted.
