Psalm 7 :: New American Standard Bible 1995 (NASB95)

The LORD Implored to Defend the Psalmist against the Wicked.

Psa 7:1A [fn]Shiggaion of David, which he sang to the LORD [fn]concerning Cush, a Benjamite.
O LORD my God, in You I have taken refuge;
Save me from all those who pursue me, and deliver me,
Psa 7:2Or he will tear [fn]my soul like a lion,
[fn]Dragging me away, while there is none to deliver.
Psa 7:3O LORD my God, if I have done this,
If there is injustice in my hands,
Psa 7:4If I have rewarded evil to [fn]my friend,
Or have plundered [fn]him who without cause was my adversary,
Psa 7:5Let the enemy pursue [fn]my soul and overtake [fn]it;
And let him trample my life down to the ground
And lay my glory in the dust. [fn]Selah.
Psa 7:6Arise, O LORD, in Your anger;
Lift up Yourself against the rage of my adversaries,
And arouse Yourself [fn]for me; You have appointed judgment.
Psa 7:7Let the assembly of the peoples encompass You,
And over [fn]them return on high.
Psa 7:8The LORD judges the peoples;
[fn]Vindicate me, O LORD, according to my righteousness and my integrity that is in me.
Psa 7:9O let the evil of the wicked come to an end, but establish the righteous;
For the righteous God tries the hearts and [fn]minds.
Psa 7:10My shield is [fn]with God,
Who saves the upright in heart.
Psa 7:11God is a righteous judge,
And a God who has indignation every day.
Psa 7:12If [fn]a man does not repent, He will sharpen His sword;
He has bent His bow and [fn]made it ready.
Psa 7:13He has also prepared [fn]for Himself deadly weapons;
He makes His arrows fiery shafts.
Psa 7:14Behold, he travails with wickedness,
And he conceives mischief and brings forth falsehood.
Psa 7:15He has dug a pit and hollowed it out,
And has fallen into the hole which he made.
Psa 7:16His mischief will return upon his own head,
And his violence will descend upon [fn]his own pate.
Psa 7:17I will give thanks to the LORD according to His righteousness
And will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.
