Psalm 60 :: New American Standard Bible 1995 (NASB95)

Lament over Defeat in Battle, and Prayer for Help.

Psa 60:1For the choir director; according to [fn]Shushan Eduth. A [fn]Mikhtam of David, to teach; [fn]when he struggled with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, and Joab returned, and smote twelve thousand of Edom in the Valley of Salt.
O God, You have rejected us. You have [fn]broken us;
You have been angry; O, restore us.
Psa 60:2You have made the [fn]land quake, You have split it open;
Heal its breaches, for it totters.
Psa 60:3You have [fn]made Your people experience hardship;
You have given us [fn]wine to drink that makes us stagger.
Psa 60:4You have given a banner to those who fear You,
That it may be displayed because of the truth. [fn]Selah.
Psa 60:5That Your beloved may be delivered,
Save with Your right hand, and answer [fn]us!
Psa 60:6God has spoken in His [fn]holiness:
“I will exult, I will portion out Shechem and measure out the valley of Succoth.
Psa 60:7“Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine;
Ephraim also is the [fn]helmet of My head;
Judah is My [fn]scepter.
Psa 60:8“Moab is My washbowl;
Over Edom I shall throw My shoe;
Shout loud, O Philistia, because of Me!”
Psa 60:9Who will bring me into the besieged city?
Who [fn]will lead me to Edom?
Psa 60:10Have not You Yourself, O God, rejected us?
And will You not go forth with our armies, O God?
Psa 60:11O give us help against the adversary,
For deliverance [fn]by man is in vain.
Psa 60:12[fn]Through God we shall do valiantly,
And it is He who will tread down our adversaries.
