Psalm 115 :: New American Standard Bible 1995 (NASB95)

Heathen Idols Contrasted with the LORD.

Psa 115:1Not to us, O LORD, not to us,
But to Your name give glory
Because of Your lovingkindness, because of Your [fn]truth.

Psa 115:2

Psa 115:2Why should the nations say,
“Where, now, is their God?”

Psa 115:3

Psa 115:3But our God is in the heavens;
He does whatever He pleases.

Psa 115:4

Psa 115:4Their idols are silver and gold,
The work of man’s hands.

Psa 115:5

Psa 115:5They have mouths, but they cannot speak;
They have eyes, but they cannot see;

Psa 115:6

Psa 115:6They have ears, but they cannot hear;
They have noses, but they cannot smell;

Psa 115:7

Psa 115:7 [fn]They have hands, but they cannot feel;
[fn]They have feet, but they cannot walk;
They cannot make a sound with their throat.

Psa 115:8

Psa 115:8Those who make them [fn]will become like them,
Everyone who trusts in them.

Psa 115:9

Psa 115:9O Israel, trust in the LORD;
He is their help and their shield.

Psa 115:10

Psa 115:10O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD;
He is their help and their shield.

Psa 115:11

Psa 115:11You who [fn]fear the LORD, trust in the LORD;
He is their help and their shield.

Psa 115:12

Psa 115:12The LORD has been mindful of us; He will bless us;
He will bless the house of Israel;
He will bless the house of Aaron.

Psa 115:13

Psa 115:13He will bless those who [fn]fear the LORD,
The small together with the great.

Psa 115:14

Psa 115:14May the LORD give you increase,
You and your children.

Psa 115:15

Psa 115:15May you be blessed of the LORD,
Maker of heaven and earth.

Psa 115:16

Psa 115:16The heavens are the heavens of the LORD,
But the earth He has given to the sons of men.

Psa 115:17

Psa 115:17The dead do not praise [fn]the LORD,
Nor do any who go down into silence;

Psa 115:18

Psa 115:18But as for us, we will bless [fn]the LORD
From this time forth and forever.
[fn]Praise [fn]the LORD!
