Psalm 54 :: New American Standard Bible 2020 (NASB20)

Prayer for Defense against Enemies.

Psa 54:1

For the music director; on stringed instruments. A [fn]Maskil of David, [fn]when the Ziphites came and said to Saul, “Is David not keeping himself hidden among us?”

Save me, God, by Your name,

And [fn]vindicate me by Your power.

Psa 54:2

Hear my prayer, God;

Listen to the words of my mouth.

Psa 54:3

For strangers have risen against me

And violent men have sought my [fn]life;

They have not set God before them. Selah

Psa 54:4

Behold, God is my helper;

The Lord is [fn]the sustainer of my soul.

Psa 54:5

[fn]He will pay back the evil to my enemies;

[fn]Destroy them in Your [fn]faithfulness.

Psa 54:6

[fn]Willingly I will sacrifice to You;

I will praise Your name, LORD, for it is good.

Psa 54:7

For [fn]He has saved me from all [fn]trouble,

And my eye has looked with satisfaction upon my enemies.
