Psalm 49 :: New American Standard Bible 2020 (NASB20)

Both ^H1571 low ^H1121 H120 and high ^H1121 H376,

Rich ^H6223 and poor ^H34 together ^H3162.

My mouth ^H6310 will speak ^H1696 wisdom ^H2451,

And the meditation ^H1900 of my heart ^H3820 will be understanding ^H8394.

I will incline ^H5186 my ear ^H241 to a proverb ^H4912;

I will [fn]express ^H6605 my riddle ^H2420 on the harp ^H3658.

Why ^H4100 should I fear ^H3372 in days ^H3117 of adversity ^H7451,

When the injustice ^H5771 of those who betray ^H6120 me surrounds ^H5437 me,

Those who trust ^H982 in their wealth ^H2428

And boast ^H1984 in the abundance ^H7230 of their riches ^H6239?

No ^H3808 one ^H376 can by ^H6299 any ^H6299 means ^H6299 redeem ^H6299 another ^H251

Or ^H3808 give ^H5414 God ^H430 a ransom ^H3724 for him—

For the redemption ^H6306 of [fn]his soul ^H5315 is ^H3365 priceless ^H3365,

And he should cease ^H2308 imagining forever ^H5769—

That he might live ^H2421 on eternally ^H5331,

That he might not [fn]undergo ^H7845 decay ^H7845.

For he sees ^H7200 that even wise ^H2450 people ^H2450 die ^H4191;

The foolish ^H3684 and the stupid ^H1198 alike ^H3162 perish ^H6

And leave ^H5800 their wealth ^H2428 to others ^H312.

Their [fn]inner ^H7130 thought ^H7130 is that their houses ^H1004 are forever ^H5769

And their dwelling ^H4908 places ^H4908 to all ^H1755 generations ^H1755;

They have named ^H7121 their lands ^H127 after their own names ^H8034.

But man ^H120 in his splendor ^H3366 will not endure ^H3885;

He is like ^H4911 the animals ^H929 that [fn]perish ^H1820.

This ^H2088 is the way ^H1870 of those who are foolish ^H3689,

And of those after ^H310 them who approve ^H7521 their words ^H6310. Selah ^H5542

Like sheep ^H6629 they sink ^H7743 down ^H7743 to [fn]Sheol ^H7585;

Death ^H4194 will be their shepherd ^H7462;

And the upright ^H3477 will rule ^H7287 over them in the morning ^H1242,

And their form ^H6736 shall be for [fn]Sheol ^H7585 to consume ^H1086

[fn]So ^H4480 that ^H4480 they have no ^H4480 lofty ^H2073 home ^H2073.

But God ^H430 will redeem ^H6299 my soul ^H5315 from the [fn]power ^H3027 of [fn]Sheol ^H7585,

Do not be ^H3372 afraid ^H3372 when ^H3588 a person ^H376 becomes ^H6238 rich ^H6238,

When ^H3588 the splendor ^H3519 of his house ^H1004 is increased ^H7235;

For when he dies ^H4194, he will take ^H3947 nothing ^H3808 H3605 with him;

His [fn]wealth ^H3519 will not descend ^H3381 after ^H310 him.

Though ^H3588 while he lives ^H2416 he congratulates ^H1288 [fn]himself ^H5315—

And though people praise ^H3034 you when ^H3588 you do ^H3190 well ^H3190 for yourself—

[fn]He will go ^H935 to the generation ^H1755 of his fathers ^H1;

They will never ^{H3808 H5704 H5331} see ^H7200 the light ^H216.

Mankind ^H120 in its splendor ^H3366, yet without ^H3808 understanding ^H995,

Is like ^H4911 the animals ^H929 that [fn]perish ^H1820.
